Facts About Domestic Violence

Domestic violence can be verbal, emotional, physical, sexual, spiritual, and economic in nature. Because it is non-discriminative, it can happen to any family. However, attempting to flee such a situation also poses more risks to a victim’s personal safety.

None of these can be regarded as direct causes of domestic violence, but may be used as convenient excuses by those inflicting abuse. This, therefore, triggers the tendency to inflict further abuse.

Instances of domestic violence negatively impact children witnessing them. This can cause emotional and behavioral issues later on.
